Title only have an ornamental value. Inside the company, it has no impact on how good you are. At best, it can only tell other employees how much “power” you wield. And in most cases, people anyway have their own stories to tell how this person got to be so-and-so title. So, if you take away the power from a title, and create more distributed or egalitarian social systems inside organisations (something that I deeply care about), the whole point of having titles becomes moot. OTOH, outside the company, titles are only helpful to impress your cable guy, your neighbors, or your father in law! Honestly, if you don’t care about your title, they don’t care either.
